Presidents Corner:
Southern Arizona Quail Forever has just completed elections for new officers who took their positions 1 July.  I want to thanks Jacob Young as the outgoing president and Steve Hopkins as an outgoing chapter officer for all their hard work and dedication to the chapter and its mission over the past several years.  Both Jacob and Steve will continue as chapter members.  Linda Pfister remains on the board as the treasurer,  Dave Brown remains on the board but in a new role as the banquet chairman and Nick Besenick remains as the youth chair.  New board members include myself as president, Ron Funk as secretary and Tom Sullivan as habitat chair.  We still have open board positions for vice president and membership – please volunteer if you are interested in serving the chapter in one of these positions.
The chapter has also voted to establish a written mission statement and by-laws.  These are available on the web.  As the chapter continues to support quail and habitat we want to ensure there is full transparency for all of our decisions and actions.
We are going to hold a gun raffle and membership drive at Sportsman Warehouse in Tucson 25 and 26 Augwith more to follow in the fall.  If you have a few hours to help out with this please let me know.
We will get a formal meeting schedule out soon, if you have input on this please shout.  I am considering doing a couple of the early meeting in Tucson before our out of state members return this fall and moving the meeting back to The Steak Out.  Previously we have had some complaints about not being able to see or hear presentations well so we are looking into buying audiovisual equipment to use at our meetings.
The chapter has a new webpage and a new Facebook page.  Let us know what you think.  Check the webpage for important dates for future chapter activities.
Quail season will open before you know it with Gambels and Scaled opening 30 Sept. and Mearns 2 Dec. July Monsoon Rains where pretty much non existent,we are hoping for a wet August which will help the Mearns Quail out.  Dove open 1 Sept. which gives you a chance to tune up your shotgun and get your dog out.
Please drop me a line or give me a call if you have ideas or want to help.
